So says Israel repeatedly, and so says the U.S. as well (about itself and about Israel). Really?
Israel killed a senior Hamas leader in an air attack on his home on Thursday...Medical officials, confirming his death, said another nine people, including members of Rayyan's family, were killed in the bombing in Jabalya refugee camp.
Sorry, Israel and its apologists. When you drop a bomb on someone's home (and this is far from the first time Israel has done so), even if they are a known, wanted, or even convicted murderer, you are deliberately targeting civilians unless you know for a fact that that person is the only person in the house. And that old "Hamas (or al Qaeda or the Taliban or whatever other group you're fighting at the time) hides behind civilians" nonsense? Sorry, no matter how much of a lie that is in general, someone in their own home with their family is not "hiding behind civilians."
Update:
Medics say 10 people, including Rayyan, his wife and three children, were killed and about 30 were wounded in the air attack on Rayyan's home in the northern Jabalya refugee camp on Thursday.
Different figures from AP:
Israel dropped a one-ton bomb on the home of a Hamas strongman Thursday, killing him along with two wives and four children.
Another update: I missed this in a quick scan of the AP story:
His four-story apartment building crashed to the ground, sending a thick plume of smoke into the air and heavily damaging neighboring buildings.
So the attack wasn't just on Rayyan's "home", it was on an apartment building in a crowded block, further compounding the crime. Incidentally this makes it even more similar to the crime linked to above, the 2002 murder of Sheikh Salah Shahada with another one-ton bomb dropped on another apartment building in a crowded block, killed 15 people including nine of Shahada's children.
