We need to register our displeasure at Rick Warren while he is praying at the inaugural address. This post lays out a purpose driven plan to protest Rick Warren's Inaugural Prayer on January 20th.
"The bottom line is God gets pleasure watching you be you. Why? He made you. When you do what you were made to do, he goes that's "my boy, that's my girl, you're using the talent and ability I gave you." So my advice to you is look at what's in your hand, you identity, your influence, your income, and say, 'it's not about me, it's about making the world a better place.'" Rick Warren TED talk
I agree with Rick Warren, which is why I created this purpose driven plan to protest his prayer at the inauguration. Anyone with a gay or lesbian friend should protest Rick Warrens Inaugural Prayer.
The purpose of this plan is to celebrate how God made our gay and lesbian friends. We think Rick Warren is a hypocrite for telling people to be how God made them and then breaking up their families by supporting prop 8. We've listened to religious hypocrites mock us and our friends for too long. We are going to fight back at the inauguration. We want your help.
As soon as Rick Warren comes onto stage, everyone stand up and turn their back on him. If you are gay and lesbian, make out with your partner while Rick Warren says the blessing. Be proud. We love you and we don't understand why our society doesn't include you equally in all our institutions. Everyone else make noise to support these brave people. Lots and lots and lots of noise. Hit things, scream, yell, boo, etc. When Rick Warren is done, return to being orderly.
This man was part of the effort to break up 18,000 families. We have a right and obligation to support our friends by protesting his hypocritical blessing.
I will set up a secret twitter account for updates as the inauguration gets closer. You've heard of flash mobs? This is a flash protest. We want change, not the same religious pope figure putting the same crown on the kings head like the last 1,000 years of european history. We don't need or want this hypocrites blessing. Let's drown him out. We have the power. We will use it. Welcome to 21st Century Politics, Mr. Warren.
Please pass this along to anyone who might be at the inauguration.
EDIT: I've been convinced no kissing or yelling. Just stand, turn our back while this guy talks. Maybe even that's a bad idea.
