Here's an interesting tidbit I found...a map of rockes landing sites in Israel fired by the Hamas since saturday 27.12.2008.
This is an unofficial google creation, and indeed had come under attack because it is not an official government posting. That said, it does give a real feel to the number of rockets hitting Israel. We have seen many posts decrying the attack of Israel on Gaza, but what conversation here about the attacks by Hamas have centered around, "well yeah, but they are puny rockets, and anyway, only a couple of people have died." I thnk this does convey more how many rockets have landed, and how much of Israel they cover.
That map appears to be the work of a singular blogger. But there is more of interest here. There seems to be a dedicated effort by the Israeli government to publish video of the attack on youtube. Some have been shut down, but other still exist:
Israel Air Force Precision Strike on Qassam Rocket Launcher 30 Dec. 2008
Israel Air Force Strikes Hamas Offices and Armed Grad Launhes 31 Dec. 2008
And so on. This reminds me a lot of the "precision" air strikes Iraq I & II, and they serve the same primary purpose: to encourage the thought that the Israeli Army is trying to target actual enemy targets, rather than random innocents, and to show success to the Israeli people (and perhaps the world). Wether they are succeeding or not, they are most certainly getting tens of thousands of views.
UPDATE: My apolgies for the broken map links. I have retested and have them working now. Please remember this is just a goole map made by a blogger, it isn't official, and may not evey be accurate.
