Panetta is just right.
The Washington status-quo is already out in force in trying to kill the Panetta nomination as CIA chief, the Bush enablers in the torture scandal like Sen. Diane Fienstein and Jay Rockefeller are already grumbling they don't want Panetta. Folks this is crucial, Leon Panetta has been against torture and many more scandalous behaviors in Intelligence matters in the Bush administration from day one. He has spoken out against what many in this community were saying was a key test in who should get the post of CIA director, many were right to have criticized Brennan who not long ago might have been the choice of CIA chief. That Diane Fienstein who is now complaining about this choice did nothing when Bush was abusing the rule of law is just sickening.
Many more complaints about Panetta is that he's a novice when it comes to intelligence matters, he isn't well versed in the Langley ways. People we don't need a Jason Bourne here or a Bond. What we need has CIA chief is somebody who is a solid manager with skills to bring a faltering agency back to par. The best CIA chief in the past have been those without much history with the agency. Bush Sr. was regarded as one of the best CIA chiefs. What long history did he have with that agency before he took it over? We shouldn't let the Washington status-quo kill this nomination, the status-quo which wants torture and anything goes to remain our nation's policy.
We need to stand up for this solid pick for CIA director.
