A Louisville, Kentucky-based publication is reporting that the University of Louisville and its benefactors are throwing away more than THREE MILLION DOLLARS...
...to convert a formerly-useful library into a shrine glorifying Mitch McConnell and his life-long accumulation of tacky knickknacks and assorted junk. The Mitchsoleum will undoubtedly include McConnell favorites like a Dixie flag* bequeathed to him by George "Macacca" Allen and a poster-sized picture of McConnell seductively wrapped in only Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner (apologies for the imagery; that was probably uncalled for).
According to the report:
Shirley Willihnganz, executive vice president and university provost, said U of L plans to spend more than $3 million to convert part of its William F. Ekstrom Library, located on the university’s Belknap Campus, to create a home for the records, which include papers, correspondence and photographs.
The archives trace the entirety of McConnell’s political career, beginning in 1978 when he became Jefferson County judge-executive, according to Courtney Norris, a spokeswoman for the senator.
Can you fathom a more phenomenal waste of money in this abysmal economy? If Mitch McConnell was an Iraqi politician, he'd be asking the President of Baghdad University to keep building statues of Saddam Hussein. Who on this earth wants to see a shrine to Mitch McConnell?? I would pay tens of dollars to meet the character who turns to his friends and asks, "Hey guys, want to check out that new Mitch McConnell museum they built on campus?"
