Or at least I was a scared little diaper baby. About two years ago I started a blog and created my DKos nick. I was so sick of the tired policies of the past 8, shit, 28 years, that I was seriously thinking about giving up on the great bastion of freedom I thought America was.

This was my mission statement, or memo if you wanna be a dick about it (h/t Jerry McGuire):
Our task is simple. To effect change in a meaningful way, to undo the wrongs of the past, and most importantly to restore the ultimate primacy of the Constitution of the United States of America, we must believe that the civil liberties of all must be protected at any cost, even in the face of danger. In the words of Patrick Henry,"Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!" If we cannot restore America’s place as the great bastion of freedom and prosperity, then we must not be co-conspirators in its further descent. This is why I am betting that which is most precious to me, my citizenship, that America can be great once more, and that she can restore the glory, freedom, and prestige she once held throughout the world. I’m certain it is a safe bet, but please, help prove my case by speaking out against injustices, and castigate those who would use their power subverting the common good to serve themselves.
Can we all please remember just how lost we were before this election, just how disheartened we were that our country was perpetrating warcrimes? We must. We must push for real investigations and not just commissions designed to exonorate the guilty. But we also must give our new president a chance.
Recently, our 'esteemed' Vice President admitted he approved of torture. Today, a prosecutor at GTMO said the 'twentieth hijacker' could not be tried, because his 'confessions' were made due to torture.
Does anyone think these latest admissions, along with public opinion will not force investigations?
If nothing else, the world has seen our skeletons in the closet, and they know how to form a war crimes tribunal. I'm not saying don't critique our incoming president. Just give him time, and trust (if you cannot believe) that everything will be okay... Someday.

Update --- I hope you all read the blockquote, but this update isn't about that. I just had to run to the store to buy somemore Steel Reserve. My last can tasted a bit skunked.... Pfffffffffssshhht. Oh I think this new one's bad too. Is this how it's supposed to taste?

Update (last one) --- Why doesn't anyone read and comment on the diaries I want them to read. They only read the crap rantings of a drunken lunatic that I post every other night... I just want people to read the blockquote that has been my mission statement for the past year, and tell me what they think.
