I wrote a diary on a similar issue before, but on this auspicious morning, I think it is worth discussing what George W. Bush Presidency will leave behind.
Tara Wall, a CNN contributor and a former senior adviser for the Republican National Committee, and a public affairs director in the Department of Health and Human Services during George W. Bush administration, claims that Bush will be vindicated.
However, I must disagree with her. Bush, the Lesser, will not, and shall not be vindicated. Although, I would endorse any motion for Bush, the Lesser, to be indicted and convicted of "conduct un-becoming to be the President of the United States of America"
Her arguments, as flawed as they might be:
"Not only have I counted it an honor and a privilege to serve the 43rd president, but I have always had a deep respect for him as a person of faith, his strident conviction in doing what was right for the country and his commitment to closing the disparities that exist between black and white Americans - no matter the mistakes made and lessons learned. Above all, it is his dignity and civility that stand out to me most.
Yet, for many conservatives (not just liberals), Bush has failed on many fronts. From the miscalculation of the insurgency in Iraq, to failed intelligence gathering and the issues of maintaining fiscal conservatism and delivering real immigration reform -- I can't tell you how many Republicans and conservatives I've spoken to over this past year who have told me how "disappointed" they've been with Bush. A few among them voted for "change" as a result.
The legacy Bush leaves behind won't be everything he wanted (particularly as it relates to popularity), but on many fronts, it will be better than that of his predecessor. Bill Clinton may have been popular, but his moral failings brought shame on the office of the presidency and tainted the people's house.
On the moral front, President Bush delivered. On the social front, he delivered. On the fiscal front he failed considerably. Yet, on the national security front and on many domestic policies, he succeeded."
Bush, the Lesser, lost all his moral, social or commander-in-chief credibility when he ignored the infamous August 6th memo that practically stated that Osama Bin Ladin is planning to attack America through Air plains.
Bush, the Lesser, has lost respect among most Americans (Democrats and Republicans) and abroad, not because he is a conservative, but because of the havoc of catastrophic proportion he and his administration have wreaked on America and around the world
Bush, the Lesser, and his administration have openly assaulted and insulted the U.S. Constitution, Geneva Convention, our liberties and privacy. They have dragged the name, what once used to be a good name, America, through the gutters of New Orleans, Guantanamo Bay, Baghdad, Kabul, lower Manhattan, and other sewages around the world.
What would George W. Bush’s legacy be? Actually, it is hard for me to even use the word "legacy" in a same sentence with Bush, the Lesser. I think, shame of Bush, the Lesser, is a more appropriate term. Here is my short list of shame of Bush, the Lesser:
-Unnecessary war sold to the world through blatant lies
-A lost war due to a colossal failure of leadership, vision and planning
-Katrina
-Unprecedented deficit
-Bankrupt country / Great Depression 2.0
-The biggest government, ever
-Illegal wiretaps
-Abu Ghraib
-Gitmo
-Torture
-Thousands of dead soldiers and innocent civilians
-Thousands of uncared, wounded soldiers (mentally and physically) upon their return to home
So what if he can keep it in his pants?
Bill Clinton may have stained the desk in the Oval Office with his sperm, but George W. Bush has tainted and dishonored the Presidency and the country with his utter incompetence, negligence and cronyism!
Bill Clinton’s mess was easily cleaned up with a mere sheet of Kleenex, while George W. Bush’s mess will take many-many years to clean up.
I will take an intelligent, a competent, a thoughtful and able President, who can ascend the country by creating jobs, revitalize economy and improving social services, but can’t keep it in his pants, anytime!
But please keep the self indulgent, utterly incompetent, incoherent and self proclaimed man of God/faith who is responsible for thousands of deaths and misery of millions others, from any responsible office.
Rating in the low 20s, must say something about the President with such "high moral values"
