There has been a lot of trashing of the song "KumBaya".
I am officially re-claiming it and will sing it proudly.
I belong to a group that promotes the integration of Spirituality and Psychotherapy. We recently had a retreat in a really beautiful resort called Serenbe, about thirty miles south of Atlanta.
We talked about psychotherapy and spirituality, about spiral dynamics and faith healing. We talked about Barack Obama and the huge shifts that are happening in the perceptions of humanity and civilization, among many people.
We talked about the meditative practices of the major faiths and their effects on neurology. We planned the next two years of presenters and we cooked wonderful vegetarian meals. We were Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, ----therapists all.
And at the end of our retreat, we sang songs from the sixties. We baby boomers mostly,....we sang and sang.
Then we ended our retreat with the song Kum Bay Ya. The gullah for "Come By Here"......
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Oh lord, kumbaya
Someones singing lord, kumbaya
Someones singing lord, kumbaya
Someones singing lord, kumbaya
