On the day that President Obama called on the nation to put aside politics as usual and move our country forward, Texas Senator John Cornyn demonstrated that he is completely deaf. Sen. Cornyn, in the grips of absolute hubris, announced that he would put a hold on Senator Hillary Clinton's nomination as Secretary of State.

No one, not even John Cornyn, suggests that she is not competent or qualified for the job. This is pure grandstanding played for the right wing of his party. In what is probably his opening publicity stunt for a run for the Republican nomination, the senator from Texas raised no concerns about Senator Clinton, but rather seeks to color her with her husband's work since leaving office.

Sen. Cornyn will not stop Hillary Clinton from becoming Secretary of State. Nevertheless, we all need to call and email his office to let him know that a new day has come and that we will not tolerate his games of political division. Let him know that you like the new tone President Obama is trying to set for our country. Tell Sen. Cornyn that his tone-deaf leadership does not serve our country well and will not serve his political ambitions.

Call 202-224-2934 today. Tell others and ask them to call. Send emails. If we can create a sufficient outcry, perhaps we will discourage politicians in either party from playing politics with our nation's future.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
