All the people was viewing Diane Denish like governor before the nomination of Bill Richardson for Secretary of Commerce became unsuccesful. This issue make in New Mexico have race for open seat in 2010. What influence can have B Richardson issue? I dont know. But now Diane Denish get like outstanding candidate for this race.
Fortunatelly, Republican Party in New Mexico is very down after last elections. They not have senators, not have governor, not have US Representatives, and only have one statewide officer, Patrick Lyons, NM Commissioner of Public Land since 2002, and not easily reelected in 2006.
They have too H Wilson and S Pearce former US House Representatives who lost in 2008 race for senate, but i think the strongest republican in this state is former governor G Johnson. Seems he like run for president in 2012, but i not heard or read nothing for governor.
We can see what think and feel the people about G Johnson for future races for senate or governor. G Johnson until now not make feel special danger. He appear in second of these links:

- Val Kilmer: NM 1959
Very much young candidates serving since few time in their offices. Democratic Party in New Mexico live a renovation.
From this list, seems Diane Denish is the candidate with more level and experience. Seems she is running for governor, and i think will not have high opposition in the bid. I think in this moment only former governor G Johnson can make decent race against she.
Personally, i like former governor Toney Anaya. Was nice for me see Anaya again in politic, but not seems easy.
