The Inaugural Edition--in defense of sound public discourse, I have decided to take it upon myself to denounce the gathering storm of the Neocon Jobs of the ilk that were imposed upon America's last Left-leaning leader.
So here we are again friends. We now have a left-leaning President of the United States and you know what that means? It means that the right-wing hate machine is gunning up and dusting of it's false righteous indignation and aiming it straight at the President. Just as they did during the Clinton years (and conveniently forgot to do during the Bush years) they are going to cull up arbitrary gripes about the effectiveness of the President and have a well-orchestrated hissy fit about every perceived misstep of his administration and, after their done with their rhetorical musings, make it sound like it is the worst policy/scandal/appointment etc. that America has ever had to endure (again, conveniently forgetting how any of those same musings should have applied over the last 8 years). Yes people, it's time once again in our dark history for the NEOCON JOB, a special breed of propaganda steeped in power ploys that have a deep disregard for the peace and prosperity of our nation and brought to you by people who hate their country even more than they love their cherished party.
So let's behold as the Rush Limbaughs, Ann Coulters, Matt Drudges, Sean Hannitys and any and every employee of Rupert Murdoch's media empire tries to make their babble sound even remotely relevant again as they begin to pick apart each and every decision of the Obama administration with a fine tooth comb and, where they cannot find any signs of political "dandruff" as it were, they just go and make it up. To be aware of the Neocon Job when you see it, you should ask yourself when you hear suspect information courtesy of a Neocon Job Artist the following question: does this bit of political criticism contain any of the following elements
a) FAKE MORAL OUTRAGE
b) FALSE EQUIVALENCIES
c) WILLFUL IGNORANCE
If the answer is yes, yes, and/or yes chances are it is merely a Neocon Job parading around as sound political commentary. Another facet of the Neocon Job is the need to redefine language like "partial-birth abortion" (a made-up term that allows right-wingers to put the words "abortion" and "birth" next to each other in the same sentence) or "Axis of Evil" (a term ascribed not six months after 9-11 in the State of the Union address to describe the supposed affiliation of three nations who a) had nothing to do with 9-11 and b) had diplomatic ambivilance or even disregard toward one another at the time--meaning, they either had nothing to do with one another or openly were hostile to each other). Again, this was an attempt by right-wing speech writers and advisors to practice a comical form of linguistic gymnastics in attempt to avoid discussing the real issues at hand. And that, in the end, is the goal of the Neocon Job, using rhetorical and linguistic games to avoid discussing what really is their aim. That aim is to divide America so that their chosen lackeys have the slightest chance of winning not by proposing and, when given the chance (as they did during the first 6 years of the Bush administration), executing the best policies but by slipping into power on technicalities, made-up scandals, and crazed criticism that has more basis in hate than fact. These technicalities, scandals, and criticisms are collectively known as the NEOCON JOB. Be vigilant. Know it when you see it. And report it to your local blog immediately.
This week's NEOCON JOB comes in the skewed rhetoric of one of the Neocon Jobs best purveyors of puerile hate and most skilled artisans of hackery, Rush Limbaugh. In an interview with one of his doughy disciples, Sean Hannity, Rush came out and said what all ther other Neocon Job Artists were thinking, "I hope Obama fails." Overlooking the fact that anyone on the Left who even remotely said that about GW Bush over the last years had their patriotism questioned (ie. fake moral outrage) by the likes of Limbaugh and were described by he and the other Neocon Job Artist as hateful and part of the "blame America" first crowd (ie. willful ignorance). Rush, in the one little statement effectively laid down the mantle and redeclared war on the Left just as he and his comrades did during the Clinton years. Look for a push for impeachment over Obama's preference for French wine over California wine or some other BS personal attribute that does not effect the American people one iota coming forthwith.
But that is just the problem with the Neocon Job Artist, they still think a Liberal is a Liberal and that Obama is Clinton and will stupidly suck up to the Neocon Job Artists either in the media or in the Congress for the sake of saving face and in a warped gesture toward "bipartisanship". Sorry Neocon Job Artist and their talking point purveyors, President Obama is not President Clinton. He is smarter than Clinton and a more decent man than Clinton and has learned from Clinton's mistakes of compromising on the WRONG issues. Plus there are two outstanding realities that Obama has going for him:
a) unlike Clinton who had to contend with the possibility that Neocon policies have yet to see the light of day and might actually be viable, we now know that to be false. The Bush administration laid to rest any hint that Neocon Policies were at all what America needed. The Neocon Job of the 90's helped put Bush into power and their little scheme of stealing elections and putting in a puppet manboy with daddy issues backfired. Instead of having a steady control over government and policy making in America for decades to come, the Neocons in power during the 00's blew every chance they had of enacting their many "reforms" and, instead, became obsess with Iraq to the near exclusion of any and all of their other domestic and foreign policy stances. Exactly when do Neocon politicians, for example, ever plan to end abortion as they claimed they would do. NEVER, because it is an effective carrot on a stick to their sycophantic worshippers. It gets people's into the polls but when it comes time to engage in the hard political battle against abortion (being that the VAST MAJORITY of Americans actually believe that it should exist) they do not even dare to begin to go toe-to-toe with those legal and legislative hurdles. Once they lose a big issue like that, their rhetoric runs out of it's blowhard righteous indignation. And the 2000's saw the Neocons blow many big chances of enacting the reform they had been whining about being so necessary over the last 5 decades (since they had last loss exclusive power of the White House and Congress).
b) Another factor in Obama's favor or, more directly, against the Neocon Job Artist favor of pulling their 1990's style shenanigans is the little inconvenient fact that, thanks to Bush's failed policies and poor leadership, we are no longer in a sustained period of Peace and Prosperity like we were under the Clinton Administration. We are in deep dire straits, once again thanks to the Bush administration, and we can no longer afford to quivel over expensive haircuts or cum-stained dresses. The MASSIVE bungles of Bush no longer allows us to waste precious oxygen on addressing Neocon Job tactics when there are REAL and PRESSING issues at hand. I wish it were not so. Oh, I long for the halcyon days when our major issues consisted of mutual sex acts between two consenting adults but, with two wars and the economy in near depression, to indulge in those sort of political obsessions would be the irresponsible luxuries of a bygone era. Still, that will not stop the Neocon Job Artist from trying.
Knowing now what we did not know then about the endless bounds to which the Neocon Job Artist would go to acquire power and the staged hissy fits they are willing to pull to get their point across (at the risk of the economic, political, and physical safety of our country), it is important to head them off at the pass. Another factor Neocon Job Artists did not have to contend with during the Clinton era was a little thing called the INTERNET. Sure, it existed (because Al Gore had already invented it) but its many powers had yet to be revealed. It was mostly a porn downloading machine back then and now, well now, it is still mostly a porn downloading machine but it has also became a very convenient way to speak truth to power and to people embittered because they stupidly lost power due to their own lack of vision and prudence toward their own stated principles. You see, Neocon Job Artist actually believe that they are "conservatives" because their name derives from the word "conservative". But being that REAL conservatives believe in fiscal responsibility and personal accountability, which would mean that they believe paying for our own wars and not emboldening our enemies and enriching our friends while we defile our Constitution and debase our values, a "Neocon" and a REAL "conservative are actually further apart than a Liberal is to a Conservative.
Still, Neocon Job Artist will attempt to defend "conservative" principles every chance they can. They will argue about the "ills of socialism" forgetting that the biggest socialist reforms this country has seen in half a century came under GW Bush. They will whine about "hand outs" ignoring the fact that said GW Bush just gave out massive hand outs to the same recipients of most of the hand outs always given away in Washington, the Corporations. And they will try to invoke the "lazy and morally corrupt Liberal" meme oblivious to the fact the states with the highest rates of violent crime, poverty, teen pregnancy, unwed motherhood, divorce, suicide, gambling, and illiteracy tend to be the so-called Red States whose citizens would most aptly describe themselves as Conservative (even though many of them are just sycophants to the Neocon Job Artist spoke of above whose only political ability is to spout off Neocon Job talking points as if they were "facts" instead of the ridiculous made up rhetoric that it is). Whereas REAL true blue Conservatives and Liberals actually believe in the IDEAS of this country (they just think there are different methods by which we meet those ideas and ideals), the Neocon Job Artist sees the ideas of this country as often an obstruction to their chosen lackey reaching power. And, instead of preening their chosen lackey to more closely resemble those ideas, they choose to bulldozer any and all inconvenient American principles that get in the way of their achieving power, even bastardizing those principles by claiming that capitalism, Christianity and conquering others were what made this country great instead of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (somewhere I read).
So since Rush and his fellow Neocon Job Artist have issued the first rally cry of hoping for Obama's "failure" (which, in a time of economic crisis is also hoping for the prolonged agony and eventual failure of the American people) then it's time to meet him and his confederate of neocon dunces on the battle field of ideas and say:
RUSH LIMBAUGH, you are the first recipient of the Neocon Job of the Week award. Congratulations and GAME ON. America, do your duty and call out these Neocon Job Artist and their fanatic talking point automatons every chance you get. Use the tools of rebuttal that the new modern age affords you and stand up for IDEAS (be they TRULY CONSERVATIVE or LIBERAL) and not rhetorical rubbish parading as honest criticism.
