If Obama wants Republicans on, he should stop cutting things we need to satisfy them, and instead pick things from their list of desires that are actually helpful and add them on.
Everyone knew coming up to this thing that it could (and many economists think should) grow to around 1.2 trillion. We got to make the first 890 billion about the most important things, we should dedicate another 300 billion (or 200 billion) to the more short-term goals of Republicans.
That way we don't lose any of the bill's usefulness, and we get everyone excited about what it can do.
And a more cooperative and bipartisan congress.
