Aren't most of us sick and tired of elections! We had a silly one in some little farm state about a year ago and what's changed? Nothing! We had a big one in November and that didn't change anything. We still have a President in the White House. We still have 535 congresscritters (534? 532? What time is it? Somebody else is sure to be named to something any minute?) Nothing changes. Nothing changes.
Ah, Sunday Morning. I've got some half-price Ann Sathers cinnamon rolls I picked up last night. The fresh ones are too soft and pillowy, and I like mine a little crunchy. They'll go perfectly with the 1/2 bottle of Mrs. T's Bloody Mary mix left over from that Halloween party I threw. I won't have to go out in the cold, and I can add a little vodka later when Bob Costas starts getting on my nerves (I better make sure I have an extra bottle).
More over the jump (although they'll be no actual jumping, it's too early for that).
Time to turn on NBC on mute, and put WCPT on in the background. Thank God it's Sunday and I don't have to listen to that friggin' Bill Press. I like Stephanie Miller though. And I've always loved Rachel Maddow, I just wish people on her OWN stations could pronounce her name though. Man, it's too early to be listening to mortgage broker commercials where they tell me how progressive they are, but then tell me they can get me a mortgage on a McMansion with no money down and a teaser rate of zero percent for three whole months. THAT won't cause any problems!
And this promo I've been hearing all week about a forum with ALL the Democratic candidates. Man, there's like 14 of them or something. I always hated Rahm, was glad that Barack took him off our hands, but actually think that Chief of Staff is a good job for that pit-bull. And I know that the election's about a month away, but GEEZ, 14 candidates!?! How am I supposed to wade through all of that info and pick out who I want to support, much less maybe go to a meetup for the candidate? How will I know which one is the Wiccan?!? That didn't work out so well for me last time.
I got called last night by that girl I like from Committeeman Michelle Smith's organization to come to the forum, 'cause they're cosponsoring the event. They tend not to throw stuff I get bored with. That IVI-IPO guy that lives down the block from me said they're cosponsoring too. I've got to ask him which one's the Wiccan. They'll know. They always know that kind of stuff. And hey, didn't I get a flyer from that hot NDFA volunteer @ the el this week? This convergence of groups I like throwing this thing might mean I can end up at the right meetup after all.
Where's that flyer again? Cool, under the Dominos box. I gotta stop eating that pizza until I can be sure that crazy right-wing guy's not getting any of my money. Wow, Lynn Sweet's moderating. I love reading her blog in the Sun-Times and she' the only one on MSNBC that gets Chicago Politics right. What's that website for the event? There it is. Wow, those mugs are hard to take this early! Two women, huh? I thought there was only one. Three doctors? Think we'll talk about single-payer this election? That labor lawyer that everybody on dKos has been pushing? What about all of my progressive local officials I've been supporting all these years? And which one's the Regular Democrat? The last two Reps. Daley pushed down our throats have been Blago and Rahm. Can't make that mistake again.
Man, I better get my ass out of these Chicago Bears balloon pants I sleep in and get over to that thing. Once in, I'm probably never going to get rid of my Congressman if I don't like him. Unless he goes to jail. Hmm, distinct possibility, but I hate the drama. Better get a traveler for that Bloody Mary Mix. On second thought, better put a little "spice" in it. And better get going soon, I heard it's going to be near capacity.
Maybe I'll get a fresh cinnamon roll. I really don't like them crusty.
