This will be short, but I'm curious about how most Kossacks feel about their current employment. I am trying to gather more facts from the ground, rather than relying solely on my perspective from my own little corner of the world.
That perspective, BTW, is that there are very few people left out there who feel 100% secure in their current job. And this is a major factor affecting the economy today. People who are not secure with their expected income will save save save, and put off especially those big purchases like cars and houses til things improve. But please tell me about YOUR perspective!
I'm aware that not everyone is employed. Some are retired. Some have already been laid off. Some are students. But if you have any kind of job on the side, please respond about how secure you feel about that job, even if it's not your sole source of income.
Thanks for your input!
UPDATE: So the numbers appear to have levelled off with only about 37% of respondents feeling pretty secure that they will be employed a year from now. IMHO this is not a good sign for the economy.
And another point I wanted to make based on some of the comments; the problem isn't necessarily the dollars--the exact amount of money, tax cuts, etc. It's the CONFIDENCE. No matter how big the tax cut or refund or whatever, people aren't going to return to their previous spending habits unless they feel secure that a year from now they will still have a steady income.
This observation is what is driving my thought that the government should be more concerned with actual, direct job creation--not tax cuts. The private sector canNOT provide security and confidence right now because even people with jobs are afraid they may lose them in the future. Only the government can do that. Thanks to all who responded!
