You want to know how far Sarah Palin is from the mainstream? Apparently she thinks that speaking out against hunting wolves from airplanes is an "extreme fringe" position.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) defended herself Wednesday against an ad featuring actress Ashley Judd that accuses her of "championing the slaughter of wildlife."
In a statement released through the governor’s office, Palin called the ad, paid for by Defenders of Wildlife, "reprehensible and hypocritical."
"The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife management programs," Palin said. "These audacious fundraising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance."
So what has Palin in a tizzy? Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund recently launched a new campaign, Eye on Palin, to turn the hot lights on Palin's "if it moves, shoot it" approach to wildlife management.
The first salvo in this campaign is this chilling video narrated by Ashley Judd:

Palin's response? It's just an effort to control predators.
Palin struck back in a statement Tuesday night, calling the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund a fringe group that "distorts" the goal of Alaska’s predator control programs.
"Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can’t be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations," Palin said in the statement.
She'd have an argument if it weren't for the fact that aerial wolf hunting doesn't involve too much effort.
