Lux Interior, the frontman of psychobilly pioneers the Cramps, died yesterday in Glendale, Calif. The cause was a pre-existing heart condition, according to a statement released by his publicist.
Born out of that glorious musical age of the late 70s/early 80s, The Cramps were part of that stellar clutch of New York City creative genius that included bands of the No New York scene and, more broadly, Television, Talking Heads, and Patti Smith.
RIP, Lux. You wouldn’t want to keep sticking around to see the cesspool of shit that music has become in the past twenty years anyway.
