Washington (Fox News) - Senator Lindsey Graham delivered a stinging rebuke of former president George W. Bush in an interview granted to Fox News on Thursday. When asked about President Bush’s foreign policy decisions, specifically the war in Iraq, Graham responded that after the initial success of the invasion, he realized:
"We're making this up as we go and it is a waste of money. It is a broken process, and the president, as far as I'm concerned, has been AWOL on providing leadership on something as important as this."
The South Carolina Republican has been reluctant to direct any criticism at the former president in past. However, Graham admitted he became frustrated with President Bush’s approach to the War in Iraq and the overall fight against terrorism.
"Scaring people is not leadership," Graham said.
Senator Graham was a staunch supporter of John McCain in his failed 2008 presidential bid, often seen standing by the candidate’s side during stump speeches. Senator McCain spoke out against many Bush Administration policies while on the campaign trail, touting his record as a "maverick".
