Let's see if I have this correct:
Democrats are in power, right?
Of course, the entire concept of power is foreign and harmful to Democrats. Democrats don't want power - they have no idea what to do with it. Look at our current situation: Democrats sweep into the White House by a landslide and control both houses of Congress with enormous majorities. What's the first thing these pusillanimous surrender monkeys did? They began ceding power to the thoroughly defeated and discredited Republicans.
Republicans don't like government spending? No fears, guardians of the wealthy. Obama will gladly get out his Presidential kneepads and genuflect before the altar of an imagined bipartisanship. The Republicans have a plan. The Democrats have Harry Reid. Who can blame the Republicans for not taking the Democrats seriously? Would you really have any respect, much less fear, for a party that includes Harry Reid among its leaders?
The Republicans have won already. The stimulus bill has been so watered-down that its failure is a very real and near possibility. But that won't negatively affect the Republicans, because they're all going to vote against it. Then they can run against the bill that they ruined and the Democrats are going to own.
No wonder this country is in such dire straits. The Republicans have horrible ideas, and the Democrats have no backbone. Bipartisanship at work!
And please, gentle readers, please save the "Obama is using the Jedi mind trick on the Republicans" defense. Pull your heads out of your a**es and get involved. There is no liberal wing of the Democratic Party. There's barely even a centrist wing. Obama is not strategizing, he's getting his ass handed to him. The Republicans have run circles around him and have him pinned against the wall.
This is the change we've always needed, I guess. As Lily Tomlin said, "No matter how cynical I get I can't keep up."
This is our time. Our time to shrug.
