In a time in our economy where good news is hard to come by, I have some great news. I no longer have a car payment, and it feels damned good! I made my last payment to Lexus Financial, and now my Lexus joins the ranks of my Ford as officially paid in full and belongs solely to me.
Automobiles are usually the second major purchases made by people, second only to their homes. The feeling of not having to send that monthly payment to anyone is one that I love. I paid my 1999 Ford Explorer Sport in full in 2002, and it felt good. Paying this 2007 Lexus GS350 in full feels even better.
I decided to pay off all of my bills, with the exception of my home, and if I had the kind of money that it would take to pay that off, I would do that too. I paid off all of my credit cards early January.
If I can't purchase it for cash these days, I won't get it. I don't know how long that will last, as you never know when emergencies pop up, but at this point, I do not need anybody's high-ass interest carrying credit!
Now maybe instead of working 4 and 5 12-hour shifts a week, I can work the normal 3. With the signing of this stimulus bill, hopefully more and more good news witll start trickling in!
