Friday kicked off the first day of the Young Democrats of America winter conference in NYC. The conference, which is taking place at the Sheraton hotel in Manhattan, received a few hundred people from across the country in attendance.
Last night, New York State Young Democrats President Matt Silverstein introduced the featured speakers of the night which included NYS Democratic Party Chairwoman June O'Neil, along with city Councilman and Public Advocate candidate Eric Gioia. Gioia won the award last year for Young Democrat of the Year. NYS Secretary of State Lorraine Cortes-Vasquez amd Edgar Santana, the DNC representative for the NYS Democratic Party also spoke to the gathered crowd.
Yesterday's panels and seminars included tips on fundraising for organizations and campaign staff, as well as information about union organizing, courtesy of the Steel Workers union.
Today's featured event included a special luncheon with New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, as well as a panel of guests to talk about the state of the economy.
I'm glad I got an opportunity to go to this year's YDA Conference, which will last until Sunday afternoon.
