We've all seen the notorious "dead chimp" cartoon in the NY Post. The NAACP has called for a boycott of the NY Post and for the firing of cartoonist Sean Delonas and editor-in-chief Col Allan.
But as bad as that cartoon was, Delonas also has a long history of vile homophobic stereotyping.
He regularly publishes cartoons depicting gays as mincing, prancing fairies, cross-dressers and perverts who have sex with sheep. At first, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them. Then I got angry. Now, it's time to take action. These dehumanizing caricatures perpetuate homophobic stereotypes and lead to denying gays and lesbians civil rights and justifying gay bashing.
GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has announced a call to action to protest this promotion of homophobia by a major metropolitan newspaper. I hope you will join the protest against this blatant and hateful homophobia. Details below:
In case you had any doubts about Delonas' attitude towards gays, here's another one:
Oh, and he also hates women (who are always fat and ugly) and Democrats (Muslim terrorists celebrated when Obama was elected).
There are a LOT more examples of this hatefulness at the GLAAD link, and also here at Gawker.
Once again, this disgusting bigotry is regularly published by a major metropolitan newspaper (owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., of course).
From GLAAD's Call to Action:
GLAAD is calling on our community members and allies to stand up and join those who are speaking out against the New York Post and News Corp.’s continuing promotion of Sean Delonas’ hateful defamation. Demand that News Corp. hold the New York Post and Delonas accountable for their defamatory representations, and that the Post stop providing a platform for such vile, abusive attacks.

The editor has already defended Delonas, so he's probably not much use. We should target the corporate officers, maybe they'll be a little more receptive to public pressure.
BTW, Delonas also wrote a children's book! Every time a parent buys that book, they are supporting virulent homophobia and stereotyping that contributes to hatred and violence.
If any of this stuff offends you, please let the NY Post know.
FYI - I am not affiliated with GLAAD. I am just disgusted and repulsed by this man's work and want to get the word out that something has to be done.
