Well, after all the speculation and anticipation of Karl Rove appearing before Conyers' committee, he did it again.
That's right. Karl Rove was a no show, no call.
Rove ignores House Judiciary Committee subpoena.
Pursuant to a subpoena issued earlier this month, Karl Rove was due to appear for a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee today. But as CongressMatters reports, despite being “expected” to appear this time, Rove was a no show. Contacted by ThinkProgress, the House Judiciary Committee confirmed the report of Rove’s absence.
More.........
The House Judiciary Committee is being made to look ridiculous by a pasty, doughy, out of power, political hack.
Every day this continues it makes Conyers looks more and more like a chump.
More sternly worded letters?
What are they afraid of?
This dog and pony show has gone on long enough.
Great country we have here, huh? Congress issues a subpoena to an ordinary citizen and that citizen just blows them off.
Co-equal branch of government? Only if you count the fact that they all have to pay the same amount for a tuna-fish sandwich in the commissary.
Have at it in the comments. I'm too disgusted to go any further.
When doodabides in unavailable, I will provide:
Update:
Rep. Conyers would like you to know........
If you have questions or would just like to talk, call me in my office:
Washington Office: 202-225-5126
Detroit Office: 313-961-5670
Trenton / Downriver Office: 734-675-4084
Apparently he "would just like to talk" to you all.
After all, he's a man of the people!
Here's his email. Perhaps he would like that filled to capacity as well?
john.conyers@mail.house.gov
Thanks for the rec list, everybody. I wish the honor was pointed at my stellar writing skills. For a sample of that, I guess you'll all have to wait for my novel. ;^)
Update:
This story is making the rounds very early.
Political Carnival is on it now and I'm sure that our efforts will shove this into the Trad-Med.
After all, isn't that why we're here?
Final Update:
I've noticed that some here were questioning my sourcing.
I read this notice at Think Progress. (not a site known for being "outsider" or "alternative" media. In fact probably one of the most inside the beltway sites.)
It has since been confirmed by multiple news sources.
Rove. Did. Not. Appear.
If you will notice, that is the title of this diary. The point of this diary was to get ahead of the story and to inspire us, as a community, to contact Rep. Conyers' offices before they knew what hit them.
I suspect they were surprised by the rapid response of so many engaged citizens.
That's the point of having this forum. To act before they can fold.
Thanks again for reading and taking action.
Seeya all in the funny papers.
