There are a couple of "No $hit, Sherlock" events for "this day in history," and we can bring out THE cake again. YIPPEE!
On this date in 1983, a congressional commission released a report condemning the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II as a "grave injustice." Repeat after me... No $hit, Sherlock! And, on this date in 2007, the Virginia General Assembly passed a resolution expressing "profound regret" for the state's role in slavery. Once again, repeat after me... Although, I would think dropping down on their knees & begging forgiveness would've been more appropriate.
And, why the return of THE cake? Here's why! ;D
Joementum is 67 years old today. Hey Joementum, GO CHENEY YOURSELF! Stick with checking Senator McCentury's bearings; you are simply marking time in the Senate until, hopefully, the citizens of CT have the sense to boot your sorry a$$ out!
Let's Countdown!
#5 "Reality on the Ground" AKA "Follow the Money" AKA "Frank Talk" - The timetable to bring troops home from Iraq may have to be expanded from 16 months to 19 months. Is the additional 3 months a huge deal? We have so much material & so many troops to get out; any withdrawal wasn’t going to happen overnight. It’s a damn good idea to point out how much money is going to be saved by drawing down forces in Iraq in the speech tonight, if indeed President Obama will mention that. RICHARD WOLFFE! I’m shopping around for BlackBerry skins; do y’all think I can get one with Richard Wolffe’s mug on it?! ;D Way to go Senator Schumer to point out that acceptance of the stimulus coin is an "all or nothing" proposition! And, make anyone who rejects the money be public about it! AIG wants more money. Well, so do I, but that doesn’t mean I’ll get it. Northern Trust hosted fancy shmancy parties with their TARP money. Rep. Barney Frank wants the money back. Yea, good luck with that. I doubt very seriously that anyone "forced" those companies to take that TARP money. Bank execs are talking out of their hind quarters on that score.
#4 "Post Outrage" AKA "Apology: The Sequel" AKA "Offense & Apology" - I thought Pirate Murdoch’s apology was better, but it still wasn’t great. For future "apologies," they need to cut out the interpretation bull$hit, admit they f*cked up, & try their damndest to make amends. Rev. Sharpton ain’t impressed. The protests will go on, including meeting with the FCC about Pirate Murdoch’s waivers in media ownership.
WPITW – A – Rod may have used non – steroid "performance enhancers." Like what? Oysters? Gordon Liddy let Santelli rant his rants on Liddy’s show. They deserve each other. But, Santelli better behave because Mr. Liddy has all kinds of "creative" ways to make him behave, I’m sure. Michael Steele has changed his tune on some issues that he said needed to be addressed when running for the RNC gig.
#3 "Presidential Address" - Wow, a Presidential address in front of a joint session of Congress with complete sentences, correct grammar, etc. Can I, as a college English professor, handle this prospect?! ;D AG Eric Holder will be in the secret undisclosed location; he better watch out for DICK! DICK could still be lurking around the joint! I would LOVE for President Obama to introduce himself by saying, "I am your legitimately elected President of the United States, and I was born in this country." Some people in the audience aren’t getting the message, apparently.
#2 "Obama’s Iraq Plan" AKA "Leaving Iraq" - The change in the Iraq plan won’t be covered in tonight’s speech. Rachel Maddow isn’t thrilled with the timing of the release of this troop withdrawal news. Like I asked above, is the additional 3 months that huge of a deal? Rachel thinks the GOP will claim that President Obama is resorting to more GWBesque ideas about Iraq. I’m not so sure about that. Does the GOP really want to "go to" the Iraq score card & their performance on that issue?!
#1 "Everlasting GOP Stoppers" AKA "Putting Party First" - Americans aren’t thrilled with the GOP idea of "bipartisanship." 63% of the people think the GOP opposed the stimulus package for political reasons. No $hit, Sherlock! Chris Matthews isn’t a big fan of Gov. Jindal. Oh brother, MSNBC is doing the CNN "live response" thing?! Gadzooks...
