I didn't use "Breaking" so there. The First Family has finally made a decision regarding the campaign promise many have so actively followed. They have selected a DOG!!! Woot.
And the winner is....over the jump.

The Portuguese Water Dog! (This is just a picture of the breed...not the actual dog)
As everyone knows, Malia is allergic to many breeds, so the PWD is a breed that's close to being hypoallergenic.
The closest relative of the PWD is widely thought to be the Standard Poodle. Like Poodles and several other water dog breeds, PWDs are highly intelligent, have curly coats, have webbed toes for swimming, and do not shed. However, Portuguese Water Dogs are more robustly built, with stout legs. Also, fanciers generally do not dock their tails, whereas Poodle tails are customarily docked. Portuguese Water Dog eyes are consistently brown, and their coats can be black, reddish brown, white, or black and white.
Male Portuguese Water Dogs usually grow to be about 20 to 23 inches (51 cm to 58 cm) tall, and they weigh between 40 and 60 pounds (18 kg to 27 kg), while the females usually grow to be about 17 to 21 inches (43 cm to 53 cm) tall, and they weigh between 35 and 50 pounds.
PWDs have a single-layered coat that does not shed [3] (see Moult), and therefore their presence is tolerated extremely well among many people who suffer from dog allergies. Some call PWDs hypoallergenic dogs, but any person with dog allergies who seeks a dog with these qualities should actually spend time with the animals before purchasing, to test whether the dog is truly non-allergenic to them.
No word yet on whether the soon to be First Pooch is a rescue dog, something that was important to the President, but can be challenging (not impossible) given the specificity of the breed.
The First Lady is not so enamored of the name choices the girls have floated, commenting:
"There are names floating around and they're bad," Mrs. Obama said in the interview. "You listen and you go – like, I think, Frank was one of them. Frank! Moose was another one of them. Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn't a moose? Moose. I'm like, no, come on, let's work with the names a little bit."
I'm sure the kossack community will have fun coming up with ideas for the dog's name.
