Hilda Solis received the nod as our new Secretary of Labor. Sweet.:)
If you’re planning on writing a labor diary and you’re worried about it slipping through the cracks, make sure you add the word “union” to the tags and I’ll pick it up. Rescue diaries are every Monday and Thursday night. In the event of a major labor dispute, such as a strike or passage of EFCA, there may be more. If your diary has less than 100 comments, is a pro-union diary, and hasn’t already been rescued by the eco-diary rescue thread or the evening Open Thread and Diary Rescue I’ll be sure to pick it up.
Today we have six labor diaries up for rescue below the fold.
Rjones2818 calls on unions to fight the downsizing of their workforce in
‘We need to fight every job cut’.
MinistryOfTruth has an excellent diary on economic justice in Apr 3rd and 4th Wall St march now has 24+ field offices. Bail Out People Not Just Banks.
Kim Phillips Fein continues her series on The New Deal in INVISIBLE HANDS: The History of the New Deal (Part Four).
Public D has a short but sweet video diary on the organizers of the Chicago’s Republic Windows and Doors sit-in in VIDEO: Sit-Down! UE 'Recovery & Resistance' Tour Detroit.
Seth D writes about the positive effect of unions on race relations in Edgar Moore: African Americans Win With Unions.
And last but definitely not least, one of our favorite writers, TomP, comes to the defense of the Employee Free Choice Act in Economists Support Employee Free Choice Act.
Treat this diary as an open thread.
