The atrocities of Robert Mugabe are well-known and well-documented. From seizing property owned by white farmers to standing idly by as thousands of Zimbabweans die of Cholera, he has pillaged and murdered his way through Zimbabwe as the head of the Zanu-PF party of thugs. Today, however, one week after his real birthday, Mugabe chose to show a different side of himself at his official birthday celebration. Ah, who am I fooling?

For his 85th birthday extravaganza, he's thrown himself a party that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The cake is reported to have weighed in at over 180 pounds. There is an estimated 90% unemployment rate. This is just after having begged for billions of dollars in emergency relief aid from other African nations. Zimbabwe is in a terrible predicament, but at least Mugabe can have himself a nice party...

This was originally going to be a longer diary about Mugabe, but I'm sure everyone here already knows most of the details. The man is a monster. And, to be perfectly honest, just looking at this picture made me too sick to write. My apologies if this doesn't quite qualify for a diary...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
