Not to mention the Blue Doggers in the House.
Peggy Noonan was one of Ronald Reagan's most celebrated speechwriters. It was Noonan who wrote Reagan's gripping and inspiring address to the Nation in the wake of the tragic Challenger accident and Noonan who wrote Reagan's speech to Veterans (and the world) as he commemorated the 40th Anniversary of D-Day on the Normandy shores. Peggy Noonan was also George HW Bush's Chief Speechwriter during his successful 1988 campaign for the Presidency.

Peggy Noonan these days.
.
Keep going . . .
.
This is part of what she wrote in yesterday's Wall Street Journal:
"[W]e're in the middle of an emergency. In times like this, Americans want their president to succeed. . .
"[There] is an unspoken public sense that we cannot afford another failed presidency, that we just got through one and a second would be terrible. Americans know how much good a successful presidency does for us in the world, in the public mind. T he last unalloyed, inarguable success was Reagan. We need another. Liberal? Conservative? That, to the great middle of America, would, at the moment, be secondary. They want successful...."
The take-away quote:
"In times like this, Americans want their president to succeed."
The corollary, of course, is that those who want President Obama to fail are, by definition, unAmerican.
Do you hear that, Sen. Shelby? Do you hear that, Sen. McConnell? Do you hear that, Sen. Graham? Do you hear that, House Republicans and Blue Dog "Democrats"? Do you hear that?
Certainly, there are those who would put their Party over their country. We all get that. But that's unAmerican. Peggy Noonan gets it and I would challenge any of the above-mentioned people and various goon-squaders to say they understand, or understood, President Reagan better than Ms. Noonan.
