Yesterday, Planned Parenthood posted here about the attempt to strip Title X funding from Planned Parenthood, courtesy of Vitter.
Since that time, the anti-choice senator DeMint has introduced an amendment to the Appropriations bill to block the restoration of affordable birth control for low income women and college students.
The debate is happening RIGHT NOW in the Senate. Please call your senators and tell them to vote "NO" on the DeMint Amendment to eliminate affordable birth control provisions from the Appropriations Act. The Senate switchboard can be reached at 202-224-3121.
In 2007, a legislative error caused the price of birth control to increase up to 900 percent for low-income women and college students, according to Planned Parenthood. The no-cost fix to this problem passed in the House of Representatives — but anti-choice senators are of course making it difficult for lower-income women and students to have access to affordable birth control.
I'm incredibly sick of these people disguising their objection to family planning in terms of saving money. Check that, I'm sick of them yapping about money at all. Apparently they forget that women vote, and for their sake I hope every woman in their home state has 12+ kids, because if not, odds are they have used birth control.
