I have a recently favorite drink. There have been many previous favorites. In College it was reasonably priced beer--the Canadians come to mind: Molson, LeBatt's, Moosehead. In the years after college I had a Mason-Dixon rule--North of the Mason-Dixon line I drank Scotch, Crown Royal or Canadian, South and it was Bourbon. If I traveled I tried to get to know the locals.
In Korea, they drink some powerful stuff I don't remember the name of that is derived from potatoes. In South American there are a plethora of sugar cane derivatives. In South Africa, there is Amarula, In Mexico Kaluha, Vodka is everywhere and we know the Anglo-Saxons love their Gin. Everyone has something.
Well, this is simple. I have a mix for the DailyKos. Of course, its ORANGE. It has no other name, so its ripe for the picking. I've been in numerous bars over the last six months and no bar tender has ever heard of this combination. We can start a trend, a sort of symbol, of being on that bleeding edge left wing. It's simple, it's refined, AND it's surprisingly good (TRUST ME). Here it is:
2 Shots Scotch (no single malt stuff--just Dewars, or Cutty Sark, Johnny Walker Red, Iron Horse, JB etc.)
1 Shot Cointreau
Shaken with ice and then poured in a martini glass.
To quote my favorite CD collection The Ultra Lounge, CDs that come with cocktail recipes,
"It is better to serve a fine tall drink or cocktail in the wrong glass than a poor one in the right glass. It is best to have both drink and glass just right."
That's it. Anyone can make it, and all bars have the ingredients. Hers's to the DailyKos--I've had three already tonight.
From Comment: Add 1 Orange Slice as Garnish.
