Surely, we have decided by now that everybody must be covered by a health plan.
Surely, we are not going to allow treatment to go unpaid because you had a condition longer than you had your job.
Surely, we are tired of switching our doctors every time our employer negotiates a new plan with the third insurance company in three years.
Surely, our doctors are unwilling to support a plan that forces them into making treatment decisions according to hundreds of different drug formularies, established by marketing agreements instead of scientific evidence.
Surely, we realize it is unfair and counterproductive that only large corporations can negotiate affordable and comprehensive health plans while small businesses can only offer expensive limited plans.
Surely, enough people have been forced to keep a lousy job just for the health benefits and everybody sees that's not the way to build a strong and free economy.
Surely, after we see how foolish it was to give money to failed banks we are not going to prop up through mandates an industry that kills and bankrupts its customers.
I don't understand why insurance companies are at the table.
There is nothing for them to do. There is no reason they deserve a profit.
There is no risk to evaluate or demographics to slice and dice--everybody and every condition is covered.
They can't possibly claim that their involvement controls costs, based on their record.
Insurance paperwork or tax forms? The government does a much better job with paperwork.
Insurance companies are the problem. Are there really no politicians brave enough to say the obvious?
Surely, single payer!
