The top two stories on my Google News page, as the DC Voting Rights bill sits stalled in the House, a victim of the debate over whether or not DC should be able to control its own gun laws:
Not saying there can't be a gun debate. Just saying that maybe people ought to be able to make their own decisions about local laws. Do such laws prevent gun violence? Maybe. Maybe not. But I think people are entitled to read and react to the news. Even if they live in DC.
But certain Members of Congress say no. Because the people who elected them -- who live in other states -- like guns.
Which is great. Fantastic. More power to them. In their states, they can do whatever they want with them.
