Republicans appear to have another repeat candidate in 2010, as former Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.) has filed to reclaim the seat he lost in November.
Goode filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) — a move that allows him to raise money for the race — but he has not publicly said what his 2010 plans are. Regardless, the race is sure to be a top GOP target.
Well, all I can say is, he didn't get enough the first time Tom Perriello ran against him. The same issues are out there, the money, the earmarks, the misuse of public office for allowing a film festival to call in on his official fax number.
All the luck to you Virgil, but you are done now, and will be done again in 2010.
One last thing here. Virgil took this loss personally, saying and thinking that somehow Tom had done something to win that was out of bounds. Nothing could be further from the truth. Maybe he can have another lobbyist luncheon on September 11, 2009 and 2010, since that worked so well for him last time.
