Last night I opened an email from a Kossack asking for my help. They weren't looking for help for themselves but for some one else and was just seeing if there was something specific I was able to do. This was the second time yesterday a Kossack had asked me to help them with another Kossack, Also, lest we all forget, there was a recommended diary yesterday by another Kossack asking for help for someone in need that was not themselves.

One of those Kossack's yesterday had just joked that they were not an Angel. I beg to differ. This site is full of Angels and it's constantly shown and not often enough acknowledged. Here's my salute to all of  the Kossack Angels.

Many friendships have been made on this site. I'm not talking about a superficial acquaintance, but deep and life long relationships, maybe even life changing relationships. If this site had accomplished nothing else beyond just this, it would have made it special. But Daily Kos has had an effect far beyond our personal lives. It's had a societal impact and for that I salute Kos, for allowing us to have the freedom to do diaries beyond politics, Thank You Markos!

If you haven't made a friend here yet, it must be because you haven't been here enough or you haven't reached out. Reach out, don't be afraid. You might be rebuffed by some, but there are far more who are willing to embrace you and call you friend. Try it. We have our pompous personalities here just as there are in society as a whole, but there again, they are the minority. And don't be surprised at who becomes your friend. Don't let their background hinder your thinking as whether or not they would ever be your friend. You'll find a big heart in the least expected places.

One more salute to all the Kossack Angels and your new Kossack friends. Close your eyes and listen, it's the only version I could find, the other none commercial ones have been pulled.

  Mojo Friday Guidelines

  1.  If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to receive mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
  1. Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
  1. You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
  1. You don't have to comment to recommend.
  1. You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
  1. Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments. Now, after 300, use a little common courtesy and be responsible in the number.
  1. Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo

Mojo Friday Goals

A. at least 300 different commenters and 1000 comments by 1:30 PM EST and 1500 by 5:00 PM EST Friday Night that it's posted.

B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.

C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)

D. At least 200 diary recommends. 300 would be better, spread the word.

E. And always, fun fun fun.

F. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by Hedwig.

G. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).

H. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 200 recommends, see guideline B)

I. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
