They're captivating, cunning, inspiring and exuberant, but they're also stubborn, selfish, pesky and exasperating. Perhaps that's why the year between two and three is considered both the best of times and the worst of times. But as cantankerous as a 2-year-old can be, [they are] sincere in [their] desire to please.
Above is quote from Parenting iVillage section on two year old development
And that describes our repugs to a tee.
The problems we have with the rethugs is that they do desire to please, but not us. Nope. They desire to please those who give them campaign donations. They desire to please those who are their "army" during campaigns. That gives them the corporations, lobbyists and whacky religious right as their "parents".
I think we can double damn guarantee that there are few who are more selfish than our reliable rethugs. Unless we throw in our own blue dogs. Looking at the ijit govs that want to turn down stimulus money regardless of the needs of their constituency, I think we can ascertain fairly quickly just how deep their selfishness goes. It goes bone deep!
Is it possible they will grow and develop into healthy adults? Or will their growth be stunted by their inability to get beyond this stage where they have bizarre mood swing and outbursts? This might explain Minority Leader Boehner's (sp?) crying jags.
It is very easy for Rethugs to converse with other rethugs. They have a language all their own. They have "code" words that signal to each other that they belong to that special group. But they cannot do nuance. But this is no handicap for a tv audience who is used to 10 second sound bites. In fact, the tv audience struggles if a concept takes longer to explain.
It is possible that I am really expecting too much of our rethugs. The article goes on to say
Between 2 1/2 and 3 years old, you may see the beginnings of cooperative play. Instead of knocking down another child's block tower, he may try to help him build it higher. He may continue to fight with other children over toys in a play situation. But if encouraged to take turns, he may occasionally comply.
I haven't seen this ability in our rethugs. Have I missed it? Maybe they are not yet 2 and 1/2?
