It may not seem intuitive for Daily Kos folks to support the return of a former Republican treasury secretary, but just take a minute to consider the following. Paul O'Neil:
- Was one of the first insiders to publicly criticize Bush
- Has been very critical of how treasury has handled things
- Is not from the world of finance. He was CEO of ALcoa, a company that actually makes products. As he noted in his interview on Fareed Zakaria's show, what do these people make?
- Doesn't oppose the stimulus or government spending in a downturn like the wingnuts
- Doesn't by the finance world's bullshit
- Has a reasonable sounding alternative plan
- Would sail through confirmation
More after the jump.
O'Neil was on Fareed Zakaria's show Sunday talking about how rediculous the bailout is and what he would do. I recommend it.
Talking about bailout
Geithner is rapidly becoming a liability to the whole progressive cause and largely it's because, in my opinion, he's too close, too buddy buddy, to the world of finance.
