Funny stuff.

Three days after Barack Obama became president, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made a prediction: Democrats would make big mistakes that would play into the Republicans’ hands going into the 2010 midterm elections.
"With all due respect to the new president and the enhanced majorities in the House and the Senate, governing is tough business," McConnell said at the time. "It’s hard. It’s very difficult to govern and not create issues, make mistakes, and I’m optimistic that the landscape in 2010 for my party will be very different than it was in ’06 and ’08."
Mitch McConnell gives an almost pitch perfect imitation of what came to be known as "'W's Lament" whereby poor little George let the world know that presidentalyzing is hard...it's hard work. Of course, that always begged the question "How would he know?". But that's another story.
No, Mitch and his merry band of Repuglican rascals, those impish pranksters and rakish troublemakers, are betting the farm on their hope that Obama, his administration, and the Democrats will fail. Never mind the consequences to our economy, the world's economy, and the almost certain world-wide depression that would ensue from such a failure. It's not about the country, the people, or the rest the world. It's about how well you play the game. But it's this line that really cracks me up. I've seen chutzpah before but this has got to be the all time winner.
"It’s very difficult to govern and not create issues, make mistakes, and I’m optimistic that the landscape in 2010 for my party will be very different than it was in ’06 and ’08."
So, from those wonderful folks who gave us America's first war of aggression, the trillion dollar rat hole of Iraq, the deaths of 4200+ young men and women, tens of thousand of young lives forever shattered by lifelong physical and mental disabilities, the deaths of thousands of Iraqi civilians, the shredding of the United States Constitution, and the almost total destruction of America's and the world's economy, they promise that next time they'll do better. Honest.
All they need is one more chance. Their message: "Trust us". In Hollywood circles, that's showbiz speak for "f**k you".
