Caffeinated Wisdom?
Over the weekend I had a coffee shop conversation with a fellow about the AIG bonus debacle. He had a great idea. He said "It's simple, just go back to the date AIG contracted for the bonuses, check the closing price of AIG stock on that day, and pay them off in common stock at that value. Let's say they've "earned" a million dollar bonus, and AIG stock closed at $50 that day. They've "earned" 20,000 shares. Pay them the bonus in common stock. That should incentivize them to help the company get back on its feet, since the stock today is worth a buck twenty."
