8/27/09 UPDATE: Douglas announced that he's not running for reelection!
---
Motherfucker.
I've been to the state once in my life, but I pledge $200 to his next Democratic opponent.
Gov. Jim Douglas, R-Vermont, says he will veto the same-sex marriage bill if it passes the legislature. He made the public announcement this afternoon.
Governor Douglas has said that he opposes the bill, and this afternoon he announced he plans to veto it. He said he made the announcement to stop speculation and to focus attention on economy.
Didn't want a political distraction, Jim? Well you've got one, asshole. We need to prove that any governor who stands in the way of equality will suffer.
Make your pledges below.
Also looking for any info as to the likelihood of the bill passing in the state house with a veto-proof majority as it did in the state senate.
EDIT: If you are a Vermonter, contact the Governor here. Here is the contact info for his office:

UPDATE: All's well that ends well, but we still have to unseat this guy in 2010 so other governors don't follow suit. My pledge certainly still stands.
