I searched and found no diaries about this, and I hadn't heard about it until earlier today.
This is a great idea from the WWF. This coming Saturday at 8:30pm local time, switch off your lights for an hour. It's a good way to focus attention on saving energy, global climate change, etc. Here is the link to the web page with all of the info: earthhourus.org
I got this information from my cousin. She sent out a note to a bunch of folks and didn't "bcc" the list. This, of course, allows anyone to email the whole list with their reply. Here is the reply someone sent:
Actually, we're taking part in Human Achievement Hour at that same time, which is where we turn on all the lights in the house and celebrate what gifts mankind's creativity have produced. God has truly blessed the human race with imagination.
Thank you for the reminder.
Ugh. So, apparently, God wants us to use all of our natural resources as quickly as possible. Why does this opinion exist out there? What's the major problem with saving a little energy. Sheesh!
And, I think this human achievement hour is an actual thing. It looked like sarcasm at first, but my cousin Googled it & it has a website. Super.
