My perspective on the state of journalism
Last night, I watched the latest episode of South Park entitled "Margaritaville" and saw just how ridiculous our society has become. The show was a parody on the "economic crisis" and it was astounding that cartoon characters are telling the truth about our monetary/economic system where no one in the mainstream, "legitimate" media seem able to do so.
I could barely believe my ears when one of the characters said what I've been practically screaming for the last two years: "The economy is made of people who spend money. The economy and money exist only because we believe in them. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of useless plastic cards and paper."
In our society, why is it that it falls to comedians and cartoons to tell us the truth about our situations? Perhaps the powers-that-be want the truth to be trivialized and/or discredited by their source. I'll trust Jon Stewart, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Seth McFarlane, and Bill Maher over Congress and the mainstream media ANY DAY!
What's your thinking on this?
