It's too bad stupid begins with an 's' and not a 'b', because the Fox News slugs could put that in their advertising for Glenn Beck's horrendous 'talk' show on the network: "Bold. Brash. Beck."
You would have to have been living on another planet to miss the sheer spectacle that is the '9-12' Project, meant to somehow recapture the 'way you felt the day after 9/11.' It just so happens that there are also accompanying mantras to say over and over to get you in the mood. 9 principles, and 12 values. Get it? Yeah, I know, cheesy.
So, how do we show America what’s really behind the curtain? Below are nine simple principles. If you believe in at least seven of them, then we have something in common. I urge you to read the instructions at the end for how to help make your voice heard.
Twelve Values
Honesty
Reverence
Hope
Thrift
Humility
Charity
Sincerity
Moderation
Hard Work
Courage
Personal Responsibility
Friendship
The Nine Principles
- America is good.
- I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
- I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
- The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
- If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
- I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
- I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
- It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
- The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
You Are Not Alone
If you agree with at least seven of those principles, then you are not alone."
Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it?
Do you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore?
Do you read the headlines everyday and feel an empty pit in your stomach...as if you’re completely alone?
Evidently, there is something called the 'Wizard of Oz lie', which I guess is supposed to mean that this is scary, and we want our mommy and daddy. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!' That's the line from the famed 1939 screen classic. That scene is iconic, for what it meant in terms of the plot of the move and the book that preceded it.
In this case, however, the right wing nuts who believe this crapola, seem to believe that the people running this country are hiding somehow, even though we see them all on the television every single day. While they are hiding, I imagine they are plotting to make us feel more like April 13, 2005, or any other date you want to pick. Hey, it's all conspiracy theory blather anyway, right?
The part of this that is truly disgusting is Beck's previous statements on his radio show that he was sick of 9/11 victims families, wanted to tell them to shut up, and evidently, he got paid for that attack just like he gets paid to ladle this swill about the '9-12 Project'
Another local blogger has also put forward the idea that an article in the New York Times where Beck calls himself a rodeo clown, is a horrible hit piece on him:
(From the NYT)Mr. Beck says he believes every word he says on his TV show, and the radio show that he still hosts from 9 a.m. to noon each weekday.
He says that America is "on the road to socialism" and that "God and religion are under attack in the U.S." He recently wondered aloud whether FEMA was setting up concentration camps, calling it a rumor that he was unable to debunk.
At the same time, though, he says he is an entertainer. "I’m a rodeo clown," he said in an interview, adding with a coy smile, "It takes great skill."
And like a rodeo clown, Mr. Beck incites critics to attack by dancing in front of them.

When it was suggested in an interview that he sometimes sounds like a preacher, he responded, "No. You’ve never met a more flawed guy than me."
He added later: "I say on the air all time, ‘if you take what I say as gospel, you’re an idiot.’ "
Is it just me, or did he say in the same interview that he believes everything he says on his show, and also if you believe him, you are an idiot? Yeah, I thought so.
She intimated that she will not stand for criticism of her hero, Glenn Beck. So here is the response of this blogger who I presume thought it was a horrible thing for Beck to describe himself this way:
New York Times, you guys are socialist fools and no wonder no one reads your shitty newspaper except Obamabots. No one knocks Glenn Beck on my watch. I posted the entire article because I want you guys to see this atrocity in its entirety.
AND THAT IMAGE OF GLENN IS THE ONE THE NYT HAD UP WITH THE ARTICLE. NO KIDDING.
And check out the comments on this article....Liberals are so funny. They think that someone wanting to uphold the constitution is a fascist. Well have they seen their president lately?? There are also many really good pro-Beck comments as well. Check it out.
The blogger also tags this as socialism, which I am not sure how that could even apply here. There is nothing socialist about a pretty decent article on this 'performer'. What we are treated to here is the blatherings of an easily manipulated young woman who obviously doesn't think things through very much. Brainwashing might not be too strong a word.
Just because Mr. Beck chooses to try entertaining his audience this way does not give him immunity from criticism or ridicule. Just because some believe him is no reason to pay attention to it. He sounds like he has serious emotional problems. I get sick of hearing day after day about Beck and his followers. It is a cult of personality, which could be dangerous.
One last thing: I can't remember when I have seen so many people who have no clue what the constitution says, claiming that it is not being upheld, and that fascism and socialism are right around the corner, all the while forgetting what happened during the last eight years.
I would bet that will not be the outcome here.
