The death of Pat Tillman was rife with controversy, including allegations/rumors of murder and a definite cover-up. One senior officer, Lieutenant General Philip Kensinger, was censored for his role in the cover-up. In July and August of 2007, the news was full of reporting that Kensinger "might be demoted" to Major General.
There may be more to the story - follow me beneath the fold to see.
There was never any definitive resolution to the questions surrounding the death of Pat Tillman. The Army seemed to focus more on the cover-up than the actual death. The most senior officer in the Army to be punished for the cover-up was Lieutenant General Philip Kensinger, who received a "censure" for his role in the cover-up.
If you Google "Kensinger" and "demotion," you find a lot of reporting around July and August 2007 that indicated Kensinger's case would be forwarded to a board to determine if he should be demoted to Major General. There are no reports I could find that he was demoted - no reports of the recommendations of the board.
Kensinger was known to be a straight shooter and the allegations of his lying seemed totally out of character.
There were rumors he was covering for someone much higher in the chain of command, but those rumors were never investigated fully because Henry Waxman's committee in Congress was unable to subpoena Kensinger to testify. Kensinger never did testify.
Kensinger currently is the Chief Operating Officer at Oak Grove Technologies, a defense contractor. His bio can be found at:

Interesting is that Kensinger is described as "General Kensinger," which would indicate a four-star rank. If he were demoted to Major General, he would be described as "Major General Kensinger," not "General Kensinger."
If one goes to Oak Groves' Board of Advisors at:
http://www.oakgrovetech.com/...
one finds other retired officers referred to as "Major General...," etc., so the company clearly knows how to list retired general officer ranks correctly.
Question is, was Kensinger demoted? Was Kensinger PROMOTED?
Does anyone know the answer to this?
