Pittsburgh, PA: another proud winger, 3 cops dead
I first saw the headline on NYTimes.com: Officers wounded in Pa standoff. As a PA resident, I clicked. Officers shot in Pittsburgh... I live in Pittsburgh, so I went to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette online. It stated the activity was occurring in Stanton Heights, not a low income, hard hit neighborhood. Now the full story is coming out. And it's pretty much what I'd imagined.
Police are called for a domestic dispute at around 7:00 a.m. Shooting starts, but no one can still offer what initiated the domestic dispute, however it appears to be between mother and son. His name was added to the article as it was updated: Poplawski. Bets are he ain't black! Not black, nicer neighborhood, what type of character might Mr. Poplawski be?
"Mr. Poplawski had supported Republican candidate John McCain in the presidential election and had "very spirited debates" about Democratic candidate Barack Obama, Mr. Vire said. Mr. Poplawski was opposed to Mr. Obama's election, which he thought would result in the loss of his rights, Mr. Vire said."
WTF!
"Mr. Poplawski was opposed to "Zionist propaganda" and was fearful that his right to own weapons would be taken away but he wasn't a member of an organized group or militia...friends said Mr. Poplawski had several guns, including an AK-47 assault-type rifle, a .357 Magnum revolver, a .380-caliber handgun and a .45-caliber handgun. They also said they believed he had not been getting along with his mother."
Loss of his rights!? To own an assault rifle, Dirty Harry's pistol, and shooting cops is a way to settle a dispute with mom! Too bad McCain didn't win, then maybe this would have been less likely to happen? Can't wait to hear his support for Palin.
I really have a hard time with these nut jobs that own guns with the excuse that it's such an important right, the only one they seem to want to protect with vigor, as their being taken by the politicians they support. Idiot's. Yes, I can appreciate what the forefather's said, but an arsenal? Oh, and:
"Mr.Poplawski called Edward Perkovic, a longtime friend and former classmate at North Catholic High School, on a cell phone around 8:30 a.m. Mr. Perkovic said Mr. Poplawski told him he'd been shot in the chest and leg, but that the bulletproof vest he'd been wearing had shielded him."
Sure, everyone should consider a bulletproof vest, just in case. Of what? The police have their faults, but they are here to protect us. I have no idea of the ratio, but I believe that most cops want to help, and like all of us, they have families. "Police said Officer Mayhle was married and had two daughters, ages 3 and 6; Officer Kelly was married and had three daughters, ages 11, 16 and 22; and Officer Sciullo was single and engaged to be married."
I can't remember the last time I spoke with one of my left leaning friends to discuss the guns we own (none), how much we are pissed at mom (not), what kind of bulletproof vest were we thinking of buying, or how 'bout that zionist propaganda. The right really needs some soul searching. Today was another reminder.
