Unless you live in the Pittsburgh area, you would never know more about the murders of 3 police officers.
But take a look at what is on the front pages of MSNBC, CNN, etc....
From MSNBC
Letter says rampage killer felt persecuted
From CNN
Letter from shooting suspect reveals possible paranoia
and from Fox Noise
Letter Said to Be From Binghamton Shooter Forecasts Massacre
Along with each story is a photo of the shooter, Wong. Wong is of course a Vietnamese immigrant, and it is becoming more apparent that he had issues with his mental health.
Nowhere on the front page of these 3 media outlets was there any mention of the Pittsburgh killings. Little could be found looking into the crime section of each, though Fox did have a story about how the peeing dog triggered the shootings, a pathetic motive pointed out by another diary here; TradMed terrified of right wing role in P-burgh story
Why is the media promoting the story of a killer who was Vietnamese, with obvious mental problems over a killer who was White and had a history of being a bigot with extreme views? Is there a double standard going on here? Wong is dead, killed by his own hand, we will never get to know what went on in that troubled mind of his. Poplawski is alive (he probably wishes he were dead), and if nothing happens to him while in custody, there will be arraignments and a trial if a plea bargain isn't on the table, and there shouldn't be. This is a capital offense, last time I looked we have the death penalty in PA.
There will be a trial. Will the details of what made Poplawski commit his acts go ignored by the media? Will there be more nonsense of how a dog with housebreaking issues triggered the murders of 3 police officers?
Please pray for the victims and the families of both incidents. As a nation, we have a duty to make sure justice is served, and we do what we can to prevent this from occuring again. We owe them at least that much.
