I had just gotten through answering on someone else's blog about my nephew being in Iraq and that his entire unit loves Barack Obama when the door bell rang. My other nephew was at the door and is a frequent visitor to our home as he is also my handy man. Who pops out from behind the corner of the house?
My other nephew home from Iraq. I was so glad to see him, I hugged him and checked to make sure he was all there. "Yes auntie, I still have all my body parts." Through my tears, I was saying 6 prayers of thanks all at the same time. I would seem that he will stay in the service and complete his contract for 8 years, he only has four more to go. He has done two tours in Iraq and was stop lost for months. He claims he will not have to go back - I hope. It appears that he was too close to some radio active waste and might be sterile. He claims this is not a problem as he already has a child and isn't looking to have more at this time. He also said he would be open to adoption later if he and his wife were ready for more. We have had this giant racing truck of his parked in our RV spot, so with many talks about "what now" he ran out to this big old truck and tried to start it - no luck. His brother jump started it and the roar was very satisfying to him. He is used to driving big rigs in Iraq and loves this huge truck. He will be reassigned to a base closer to home. He is very concerned as this new base is slated to go out to Iraq shortly. He is working with his company lawyer to make sure he doesn't have to go with him or delay his transfer until they have shipped out. He said something I don't quite understand. Some of his buddies that went to Iraq with him the first time, re-upped instead of signing a long term contract and they are back in Iraq. He claims that as long as he now stays State side and completes his contract he will no longer have to go back? I am not sure I understand this but I had to share as I am so excited. I don't normally do diaries and find the form somewhat hard to follow so forgive my boo boos and just be happy for our family.
