I've been watching an interesting nexus of the Tea Party planners and racist organizations. Tea Party movement, at least in part, is an offshoot of the Ron Paul campaign, which was enthusiastically supported by a variety of racist organizations, including the Florida-based Stormfront, which posted photos of Paul hobnobbing with racist leaders and signing autographs for the Stormfront founder and his family. Both the websites promoted by FreedomWorks are registered to Jeff Frazee, who appears to have been a Ron Paul campaign staffer.
And now the denizens of Stormfront are seeing a real opportunity for recruitment at these events:http://

Several of the posters at this thread say explicitly that they are attending these tea parties and tell us where. Others plan to use the meetings as recruitment sites:
Who says we're going in with only a focus on taxes, or that many of the folks in these protests aren't also concerned about our people to some degree? Go where our people are starting to stand up around symptoms of the problem, and INTERVENE to guide them. Just because these started as an anti-tax protest doesn't mean that they must be limited and can't be developed upward toward an explicitly racial mass struggle. At the very least, you will find some Whites who are receptive...you will make gains one way or the other. But you must take the field and and throw OUR ball. Let our folks know that they have champions who see the cause of this mess and are building an alternative to resolve the real problem.
(Italics in the original. Other emphasis added.)
The poster goes further, asserting that white supremacists should also try to usurp control of the movement:
Oh, and so what if some of the leaders of these things might not like your intervention. We are their replacements, and they will realize the foreshadowing before most of our own race-conscious folks do.
Another talks about a video he posted at an earlier tea party, and advises:
If you have a video camera, bring it. Hell, the Libertarians are mainstreaming all over the country. People are fed up with the two party system. It's like Republican or Democrat?, Pepsi or Coke?
I thik [sic] there will be a real opportunity to promote racial awareness. You notice in the last video I posted, there were a lot of young Whites?
(Emphasis added.)
FreedomWorks activist tied to racists?
But to say these guys are going to "crash" the tea parties is probably not entirely accurate. Indeed, the main promoter of the tea parties on FreedomWorks, Brendan Steinhauser, has ties to Kyle Bristow, the former leader of the MSU chapter of YAF (he was kicked out for his extremist views) and author of the Spartan Spectator Blog, which is considered a hate site by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Bristow is well known for inviting neo-Nazis and holocaust-deniers to speak at events in Michigan that were attended by members of the neo-Nazi National Alliance. (http://nicolen.wordpress.com/category/stormfront/)
Steinhauser, along with co-authors Steve Bierfeldt and Francisco Gonzalez, wrote a book called "Who is the Real Barack Obama?" before last year's election. To promote the book, Bierfeldt gave an interview of Bristow's Spartan Spectator hate site (spartanspectator.blogspot.com/2008/08/exclusive-interview-with-steve.html?showComment=1219169340000
). Steinhauser, on his own blog "The Conservative Revolution," also heavily promoted anti-gay zealot Ryan Sorba and his speaking appearances in which he claimed to reveal the "born gay hoax." (A variety of posts on the subject at http://theconservativerevolution.com... Steinhauser even covers Sorba's appearance at an MSU event sponsored by Bristow (http://theconservativerevolution.com/campus-politics/ryan-sorba-part-two/).
(Bierfeldt was recently detained by TSA authorities in Missouri, an account of which was posted to the Alaska Pride blog, run by another racist libertarian. Bierfeldt himself appears to have posted in the comment thread there Note the audio at the link of Bierfeldt acting very suspicious while being interviewed by what sounds like an African American TSA officer. The Stormfront thread on the same incident calls Bierfeldt a "Ron Paul supporter." The FreedomWorks thread, posted by Steinhauser, calls him a "Libertarian Activist" but doesn't mention Steinhauser's friendship with Bierfeldt.)
But perhaps most insidious is a 2004 letter from Steinhauser to the racist Vanguard News Network, which can be found here (scroll down): http://www.vanguardnewsnetwork.com/... Apparently this was "reader mail" sent by Steinhauser himself.
So here we have FreedomWorks' designated Tea-Party cheerleader apparently sending letters to racist websites, promoting hate-speech activists, who has friends doing the same. At the same time, Stormfront and other white-pride radicals coming from the Ron Paul orbit are also intent on using the tea parties to spread their message of hate and violence.
Something to watch for.
