So I had a curt "difference of opinion" with a primary organizer of the "Cincinnati Tea Party", Brian Willis, whom I mentioned in a previous diary entry.
This gem was an interesting insight into the movement:
However, as tax payers, we also are coming to recognize that we are not "fairly" represented. Because those who do not pay taxes in this country have an equal voice, we find ourselves increasingly in the situation where a majority of voters, desiring to receive more money and benefits from government, can get their way without contributing anything but their votes. This "dependent class" voting block increasingly has the power to control elections in order to appropriate for themselves more money from we the taxpayers. I am not advocating that non-taxpayers not be allowed to vote. I am advocating, however, that government be limited, as per the Constitution, to protecting the rights of citizens and not be allowed to ever expand the taxpayer burden in order to buy votes from, and improve the lot of, the "dependent class".
