OK, we've seen Glenn's song and dance:
There's an apocalyptic conspiracy undermining the state.
The government has been taken over by anti-American forces.
They have stolen our culture, and the values we all shared in the good old days.
The population has been duped by anti-American forces, such as unions and foreigners.
The "liberal press" is part of this conspiracy because they are "socialists."
Real patriots can ignore the law, because they are doing God's will.
It's not us, it's "them" who are evil.
Mostly "them" just sort of think bad thoughts, but those thoughts are so dangerous that the ends justify the means when it comes to stamping them out.
All these points are straight out of Mein Kampf, and Glenn provides the perfect delivery - loud, angry, repetitive, memorable, and pitched to the stupidest 10% of the population. The fact that it's incomprehensible doesn't matter. It makes people like you laugh when you should be afraid.
Even conservatives are revolted by Glenn Beck. Do they say why? No, but they get a sense that many lines have been crossed.
This is Glenn, like Dennis Hopper in awe of Colonel Kurtz:
Or maybe Glenn can wind someone up to be an assassin:
Because, let's be frank, assassination seems to be the GOP's main strategy for getting back into power. That, and driving the economy into the crapper so they can recruit the angry unemployed.
Glenn is a pretty fair barometer of the of the end of days, after all, he may be planning to ride it out in a well stocked LDS doomsday bunker, so that he emerge in a couple years into an America remade in his image.
But what Glenn is looking for is not someone overtly crazy like him. He's looking for someone smooth and stylish, with flair. Someone with executive skills and executive hair that can pull together a plan. Someone that can be part of the plan that combines corporate sponsorship, street violence, and dumbest 10% of the population in a violent takeover:
So the question is, if some group successfully uses Glenn's Mein Kampf script to run a smooth talking psychotic for president, what should be done? If Glenn finds his Messiah, is this simply a case of "OK, we've seen this movie before, we know how it ends, so I'm going to panic now and beat the crowds?"
And this raises an equally interesting question for conservatives, since they seem to have decided that nothing good can come out of Glenn's tactics. What if Glenn gets lucky, key democrats get shot, and he finds some degenerate that gets labeled the "Great Leader?" Does Glenn become a political genius? Would conservatives hop on the band wagon without a second thought?
