Ah, a successful military operation culminates in the rescue of a heroic US captain who gave himself up so that his crew could go free. The operation involved a Navy SEAL team, and apparently resulted in the deaths of 3 of the 4 pirates. Great news! Right? Well, NO. Not if you are a denizen of Free Republic. Follow me, if you will, into the outraged and lunatic minds of those on the fringe.
The story posted on Free Republic starts with some positive comments.
YES! YES! YES! Excellent great news!

It didn't take long, though, for the first of the gang to sow the seeds of political intrigue.
Happy Easter, indeed!!!
I guess Coburn and Bayh’s statement had finally made our whatever-in-chief to allow our Navy to be our Navy.

Ah ha! Certainly Obama would have most likely GIVEN THE BOAT TO THE SOMALIANIANS IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE HEROIC ACTIONS OF WAR HERO TOM COBURN FTW!!!!
And from that point on, of course, the floodgates were opened.
I know you’re all wondering what Obama’s role in all this was. Here’s the anwer:
“The negotiations between the elders and American officials have broken down. The reason is American officials wanted to arrest the pirates in Puntland and elders refused the arrest of the pirates,” said the commissioner...
In other words, the only reason why we have a favorable outcome is that the Somalis would not let Obama have his way.

and it wouldn't be Free Republic if a Palin fan didn't chime in with some fan fic:
What a sweet fantasy that is! I also think that if she had been President, it wouldn’t have taken so long. If McCain had been President, though, he would’ve been apologizing. We regret the loss of life. Our forces are trained to do better. We need to understand the breakdown/failure in procedure. ........

and last but certainly not least, this gem
Fox just started to read a statement from Obama - it expressed tepid joy at the Captain’s release, praise for the military, blah, blah, blah, and Fox just stopped reading it and went to their military analyst Cowan, as if Obama were immaterial. Cowan did say that the operation had to be authorized by the administration.
