Gov Perry has recently shot to the front page of Puppetmaster Drudge for declaring his support for a useless declaration of sovereignty.
"The Fed's (sic)...intrusion into Texans lives... and matters of the state..." Perry
Where was he when the Fed started taking people's property to build a border fence in his state?
Where was his objection to Federal Powers then?

Governor Perry has decided to elevate his visibility for his 2010 Governor's race by ramping up his conservative credentials. And he's doing it at the cost of the unemployed in Texas.
His argument is a too thinly veiled Secessionist rant. In yesterday's press conference he even invoked, "Texans long history of independence"
What the hell is this guy going for? Texas to become it's own country? Sounds a lot like the civil war to me.
When asked what part of the Stimulus specifically he opposes:
"There will be some of the dollars that the Federal Government is trying to force unto us that we will say thanks but no thanks to,- Unemployment Insurance is one of those, strings attached to those dollars, which I might add were our dollars to begin with to make Texas change the way that it does business,- I will refuse those..."
Gov. Perry
Did you catch the "thanks but no thanks" Palin reference?
But what's most hypocritical about Perry's political theatre is timing.
If standing up for Texans rights when they conflict with the Federal Government's mandates is Perry's concern, then why didn't he hold a press conference when the Fed started suing local municipalities to build the Border Fence?
In Perry's home state (or his envisioned Republic of Texas)the Federal Government has been seizing land owned by the State and border town locals. In Brownsville, Texas the Fed is trying to build on municipal property originally set aside for a Mall and boardwalk. In other words, the Fed is building the border Fence where the City of Brownsville wanted to put businesses.
Governor Perry himself has even denounced the Wall and the Fed's seizure of land. But he hasn't supported any actual legislation or tried to rally any political support in the Republican controlled Legislature.
So Governor Perry, it's okay to take away people's homes and property for a Fence along the border, but it's not okay for the Fed to give you money for unemployment insurance?
By the Way Yucatan Man posted in the comments something I forgot to mention: Perry won the Governorship by winning only 39% of the vote! It was a 3-way race.
He definitely doesn't speak for everyone in Texas.
